Edinburgh Earth Observatory seminars 2012/13

Now in its eighth year, the University of Edinburgh School of GeoSciences has kicked-off another year of its successful Edinburgh Earth Observatory seminar series.

This informal series combines research seminars with talks of professional interest and is open to students and staff across the University and beyond, together with professionals in the field working in Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland. Supported by the Association for Geographic Information in Scotland (AGI Scotland) as a professional seminar series, it aims to be inclusive and broad-ranging.

The theme this year is ‘Past and Future GIS: Underground, Overground and Above Ground’. We look at Visualising Cities and their Transport Networks both past and future including London, this being the year of the 2012 London Olympics, and finally we include a number of ‘local heroes’ working with a range of Earth Observation data and GIS techniques here in Edinburgh.

Each event is followed by informal GeoDrinks, which all members are welcome to attend even if you cannot make the seminar.
