AGI-S Event 18 March: Book Now!

AGI Geo the Big FiveBooking is open for the AGI Scotland Annual Event, on 18 March in Glasgow City Chambers. Forming part of this year’s AGI national event series “Geo: The Big 5”, this year’s event will have a focus on Future Cities.

In 2014 the AGI celebrates 25 years since it was founded. This high profile event series has been conceived by input from our members. It will look at 5 key areas where GI has a vital role to play and looking forward at the impact we can make as an industry in new fields.

Glasgow is leading the UK on Future Cities, having been selected as the UK Future Cities Demonstrator project. Those who made it to the AGI conference in September (or who follow this blog!) will remember that Iain Langlands of Glasgow City Council picked up the award for Best Paper for his presentation on the work under-way.

Future Cities is an area of huge potential for geographic information. This event, with a stream focussed on this exciting topic, located in Glasgow is likely to have a wide appeal so make sure and book your place as soon as you can.

Prof Iain Stewart

Speakers selected to present will be part of an exciting line-up, including TV’s face of geoscience and President of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society Professor Iain Stewart.

In addition to the Future Cities stream, like last year, we will also have parallel streams to showcase the very best of geographic information case studies in Scotland and workshops to brush up on your practical skills.

We are delighted to be able to maintain last year’s delegate rate to ensure that as many of our members are able to attend as possible. At just £49 + VAT for members this offers an incredibly good deal for a day that will be packed with valuable content. Please come and support us in our 25th year and enable us to continue to showcase the best of GI in Scotland.
